Well, I didn't update my blog at all during the trip, so this is more of a summary than a play-by-play.  In some ways, it's hard to believe the trip is over.  I arrived at the Nairobi airport on July 10 at 6:30pm.  I stayed with Collegiate staff in Nairobi, Chris and Ann Amulo.
Chris and Ann have two little girls: Rebekah (6) and Rehema (2).  Circumstances unfolded so that I was able to help the family out by babysitting Rehema for the first two weeks I was there.  I attended some strategic planning meetings with the Collegiate staff and was able to learn a lot about their Collegiate ministry in Kenya.  It's exciting to hear the heart and vision of the work there.  God is definitely at work in Kenya!

The Amulo Family

The verses the Lord gave me as I settled into life in Nairobi came mostly from the Psalms.  One in particular that ministered to my heart was Psalm 62: Truly my soul finds rest in God;  my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

I am constantly learning what it means for God to be my fortress.  I seem to learn more when I am put in a situation where my normal "fortresses" are removed.  The only familiar thing I had in Kenya was the Lord.  I wish I could live as if God is my only fortress, even when I feel "comfortable."

The second two weeks of my trip, I stayed with Bob and Patty Meredith.  Bob and Patty help all of Africa in the areas of finances and administration.  They both minister to the staff in Nairobi through Bible studies.  Bob loves to hunt and so we spent many hours sharing hunting stories and watching hunting videos!  I helped Bob and Patty with some administrative projects during the 2 weeks.  I also did some training with the staff on a computer program that helps organize donors and fundraising.
The Friday before I left Nairobi, Bob and Patty took me to a game park in Nakuru.  It was one of my favorite days I've ever had!  We saw rhinos, hippos, cape buffalo, impalas, gazelles, waterbuck, flamingos, zebras and a lion!

Thank you for your support, encouragement and prayers.  The verses I am walking away with from the summer are from Psalm 27
One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.
